Housing Stability Assistance

In 2023, the City of Philadelphia announced that $7.5 million from national opioid settlement funds would be invested in Kensington schools, parks, home repairs, foreclosure prevention, and rental assistance. These funds are just one example of how a self-determined plan for community development is recognized as the path forward for ensuring long-term community change.

  • Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention

    Housing assistance for eviction prevention and foreclosure prevention in now available through New Kensington Community Development Corporation’s Housing Services department.

    Eligibility:

    • Must be late on mortgage/rent from 30 days to 60 days.

    • Live within the area of the map below. Assistance is available in all of the zones.

    • Must demonstrate the ability to make next month’s rent.

    • Landlord must have a current Rental License and Rental Suitability forms.

    • Landlord must complete landlord verification and W-9.

Housing Resource Events

The first 100 eligible individuals will receive applications for home repairs in person at the following housing resource events.

  • Zone 1

    Eligible if between Castor Ave to Allegheny Ave and Front Street to Kensington Ave

    Location: Scanlon Rec Center, 1099 E. Venago Street

    Date: February 9th from 12-2pm

  • Zone 2

    Eligible if between Kensington and Aramingo and Castor and Allegheny

    Location: Heitzman Rec Center 3631 Amber Street on Saturday,

    Date: February 24th from 12 to 2PM

  • Zone 3

    Eligible if between Kensington and Front street and Somerset and Allegheny

    Location: The Mill Building, 118 E. Indiana Avenue

    Date: March 2nd from 12 to 2PM

  • Zone 4

    Eligible if between Lehigh Ave to Allegheny and Kensington Ave to Aramingo Ave

    Location: Kensington Empowerment Hub 2771 Ruth Street, Suite 2

    Date: March 9th from 12 to 2PM
