OPIOID SETTLEMENT FUNDS
In 2023, the City of Philadelphia announced that $7.5 million from national opioid settlement funds would be invested in Kensington schools, parks, home repairs, foreclosure prevention, and rental assistance. These funds are just one example of how a self-determined plan for community development is recognized as the path forward for ensuring long-term community change.

Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention

Home Repairs
Home repair grants are now available for up to $5,000 through Impact Services for basic home repairs such as windows, doors, locks, roof, and more. Follow the button below to find out if you’re eligible.

Parks
Six parks have been designated to receive money from the opioid settlement funds, including Hope Park, McPherson Square, Harrowgate Park, Scanlon Playground, Hissey Playground, and Trenton & Auburn Playground and Park. During the park engagement process in the summer of 2023, there were 28 meetings, 128 people engaged , and 270 surveys completed.

Schools
Six schools have been designated to receive money from the opioid settlement funds, including Gloria Casarez Jules E Mastbaum, France E. Wlliard, Lewis Elkin, Conwell, and Webster. The next steps of engagement and distribution of funds will be announced in 2024.
